Aero ambled down to the track, totally alone. He slipped his running headphones over his ears, and No More began throbbing in his skull as he ran, slipping into his usual rapid pace. He loved running, loved how he could pound everything out of his brain until he'd sped past everyone. He wondered why his virtual form wasn't a cheetah, but remembered they could only run short distances. Aero was an endurance runner, like the wolf he spent his virtual life as.

Ant was running. Even on the track, it felt good. He went faster, felt the blood start to pound and his lungs work faster. This, he thought, is life. It was great to have the freedom to go as long as he wanted to, as far as he could. He caught up to another guy. Social interaction wasn't one of his greatest skills, and he was a little nervous when he talked. "Hello." He said, and hoped for a reaction, too late realizing that the person was wearing headphones and probably wouldn't hear him.

Aero slowed his pace to match the other boy's. He always kept his volume low, so he had heard the brown-haired boy perfectly. "Hi," Aero said, friendly as ever, "What's up?"

"Running, you?" Ant cursed mentally. Stating the obvious was not a generally good thing to do. He tried to patch it up. "What's your name?"

"Uh, Aero, you?" he asked, still running, matching the boy's pace.

"I'm Ant. Nice to meet you." Ant wracked his brain for another topic. "So you at the high school? I'm new this year."

"Yep, I'm a junior. It's a big step-up from being a sophomore," Aero stated. "You excited to start high school?"

"Yep. It's so much more freedom. And I'm allowed to run outside now!" Ant was really disappointed with himself. Why couldn't he have pretended to be normal? Maybe Aero would have thought that he was just from another town or something. Now Aero would almost surely ask why, at fourteen years old, his parents still had so much control over him. Or think he was an overprotected child. So he would either have to leave it that way, or explain that his parents bolted him in his room, and had bars on his window, and how he lived like a prisoner. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
